Life in Berkeley

I'm going to school at UC Berkeley, and I'm currently in my fourth year. The fall semester will be my last. I'm graduating with a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science with about a 3.5 GPA. My resume is available, if you want to help me find a job.

During the Spring and Fall this year, I took only math and CS classes, except for a Decal class called "Exploring Comics", which was really good, and forced me to learn how to draw. Probably the most interesting thing about the any of the classes is this: there are only two schools that offer a class in Classical Geometry in the United States. And my professor, Robin Hartshorne, is probably the leading expert on Classical Geometry in the U.S., if not the world.

Other hapenings in Berkeley: I've moved. In case you haven't corrected your card-file yet, you might want to write it in pencil, because I will probably move again in the next year. I'm now living with my travel buddy, Michelle, and friends through Rescomp, Brandon and Jake. The proximity of the house to the campus, and the fact that it's right on the street often make it a hub of activity. It's not uncommon for us to have six or eight uninvited (but not unwelcome) guests over at a time. Furthermore, having my own room is like a gift from god. If you have your own place, I command you to count your blessings immediately.

Work is going well. I've been working as Rescomp's Lead System Administrator for three semesters (and three before that in other positions). Since all the employees are students, Rescomp has a lot of turnover. Hence in my three years at Rescomp, I have very quickly gone from being the young, spry, wide-eyed new guy to being the old, grumpy curmudgeon.

On the left is my girlfriend Ellie (with a beanie kiwi bird on her head). I'm only slightly ashamed to admit that we met online, on Friendster. She's a fourth-year Integrative Biology major aspiring to optometry, and currently works in an optometrist's office. We met back in June, and afterwards it didn't take too long for her to become very important to me. She's simply the kindest and cutest person I've ever met. Also, she's hot. I frequently fight back my friends' attempts to steal her away from me--even the girls. It's fair to say: everyone loves Ellie.

Special thanks Jim for his picture of Doe library at night.
